Delegates from Japan and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are meeting in Mongolia for two days of talks about Pyongyang's nuclear programme.

DPRK delegate Song Il-ho refuses to discuss details. The two countries held their last round of talks on normalizing relations in Vietnam in March, but failed to make any progress. The two sides remain divided over the issue of abductions of Japanese citizens in the 1970s and 1980s.

The Japan-DPRK working group is one of the five panels under the framework of the six-party talks aimed at denuclearising the Korean Peninsula.
