The SCO has begun its anti-terror drill codenamed "Peace Mission 2007" in Urumqi the capital of China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

At noon on Thursday and on behalf of the SCO member countries Chief of General Staff of the PLA, Liang Guanglie declared the official launch of " Peace Mission 2007".

Later at a press conference, General Liang outlined the aim of the drill.

General Liang said, "The drill does not concern the interest of any third party nor does it make a threat to any country."

Liang said the joint exercise provides a good opportunity for the PLA.
