President Hu in HK for the 10th anniversary celebrations

Chinese President Hu Jintao is now in Hong Kong to attend the 10th anniversary celebrations of Hong Kong's return to the motherland. He repeated the Central Government's continuing resolve to implement the policies of "One Country, Two Systems" and "Hong Kong people governing Hong Kong".

President Hu Jintao received a warm welcome at Hong Kong International airport. Chief Executive of Hong Kong SAR, Donald Tsang and other principal officials of his administration were there to greet the delegation.

Hu Jintao hailed the achievements Hong Kong has made over the past ten years. He said the "One country, two systems" policy has secured consistency in social and economic systems.

Hu Jintao said, "While here, I expect to experience the changes, the development and the progress that Hong Kong has made since 1997. I am also looking forward to sharing the happy mood of Hong Kong compatriots throughout the celebrations."

During Friday's meeting with Donald Tsang, President Hu Jintao said he is happy with Hong Kong's achievements over recent years. He said he hopes Hong Kong's government will stay focused on developing the economy and improving local residents' living standards.

Donald Tsang thanked the central government and the people on the mainland for their support of the Hong Kong S.A.R. He said Hong Kong residents have felt the advantages of the "One Country, Two Systems" policy and understand the importance of cooperation with the mainland.
