Three Gorges Reservoir sluices for flood-control

Major reservoirs in South China are releasing water earlier this year to help handle the ravaging floods.

The Three Gorges Reservoir has opened its sluices for the first time this year.

Days of torrential rain pushed up the water level in the Three Gorges Reservoir to 145 meters. The reservoir's No.1 and No.3 sluices were opened Tuesday to discharge water.
