HK to celebrate 10th anniversary of return on July 1st

Hong Kong will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its return to China on July 1st.

The committee in charge of the celebrations made the announcement today. The People's Liberation Army airborne troops are scheduled to put on a "sentinel parachute" show. A large-scale parade will feature more than 5,000 performers from the mainland and Hong Kong.

The committee has also invited ten children born on July 1st, 1997 to take part in the parade. The Preparation Committee is made up of more than 800 civic groups. It's the largest non-governmental organization involved in preparations for the celebration.
