Poland and the US have moved closer to reaching an agreement to build an anti-missile shield on Polish soil.

US Assistant Secretary of State John Rood met with Poland's Deputy Foreign Minister in Warsaw. They discussed placing ten American interceptor missiles in the eastern European country.

The plan has drawn strong criticism from Russia, which sees it as a threat to its national security.

Rood has reassured Russia it has nothing to fear as these interceptors have little or no capability of intercepting a Russian ballistic missile launched at the US.
