Israeli PM Olmert stresses not to resign

Israel's Prime Minister has reacted formally to the report stressing that he will not resign. This is despite the fierce criticism that Olmert was too hasty in launching last summer's war.

He said "This is a severe and difficult report. I plan to act to correct all that needs fixing thoroughly and fast. I plan to convene a special cabinet meeting on Wednesday. During the discussion I will propose

to appoint a committee that will deal with studying the report rapidly and implementing the lessons it requires. It would not be right to quit and I have no intention of doing so. This government will deal with correcting the defects."
