Special Report:   Cross-strait forum

Honorary Kuomintang Party Chairman, Lien Chan, has swept the tombs of his ancestors in northeast China's Shenyang City. He says he hopes that the upcoming cross-strait economic, trade and cultural forum will be a success.

Lien Chan came to Shenyang at his mother's request.

His mother Zhao Lankun is a hundred years old and lives with Lien in Taiwan. She's a native of Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning province, but she hasn't seen her hometown in more than 75 years.

Lien Chan's wife and children took part in the tomb-sweeping ceremony at a park in the suburbs of Shenyang.
