UN vows to give more support to Darfur refugees

The four-year-old conflict in Sudan's Darfur has resulted in the displacement of about 2-and-a-half million people.

Antonio Guterres, the head of the United Nations refugee agency, has promised them the organization will give more support. He also called for political dialogue instead of a military option to resolve the problems in Darfur.

Antonio Guterres said, "It is our plan to increase our activities in Darfur both in camp management and in protection starting by west Darfur and we intend to do that as we all know that the situation is very complex there - problems of security that we have witnessed. It is difficult to guarantee the protection of people in such circumstances."
