Indian defense sources say the country has carried out a successful test of its home made ballistic missile, the Agni III.
The missile was launched from Wheeler Island off the country's east coast Thursday. The Agni III is India's longest-range missile, capable of reaching three thousand kilometers and carrying a nuclear warhead weighing up to 1.5 tons.
A test fire of the Agni III last July failed when it plunged into the sea after take-off.
