Fighting continues in Gaza, 4 Palestinian killed

A senior Hamas official says a new Palestinian coalition government will be formed by the first week of March. However, fighting continues in the Gaza Strip with four Palestinian killed in clashes between rival clans.

Parliament speaker, Ahmed Baher, told a news conference he expects Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh to present a new coalition government for the legislature's approval soon.

Ahmed Baher said, "We hope that this week discussions will end in order for the acting Prime Minister (Ismail Haniyeh) to hold a meeting to present the government. We hope that will be in the coming week."

Earlier this month Fatah and Hamas agreed to forge a Palestinian national unity government. Palestinians hope the coalition deal will stop clashes between the two sides that have left more than 130 dead since May.
