Chinese, US presidents talk on phone on bilateral ties, nuclear issue on DPRK

The presidents of China and the US, together, say they'll push to implement this week's agreement on denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula.This came in a phone call Thursday between Hu Jintao and George W. Bush.

Hu Jintao said China is willing to cooperate with the US and the other parties and will continue to play a constructive role in implementing the agreements reached last week and in September 2005.

He also said China is willing to work with the US to enhance dialogue and cooperation in various fields, including safeguarding peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits.

Bush said good progress has been made on the Korean nuclear issue. He said the US is willing to continue to cooperate closely with China on the matter.
