First 2007 cross-strait charter flights to take off Tuesday

The first 2007 Spring Festival charter flights from Taiwan to the Chinese Mainland are set to take off Tuesday.

Two flights will take off from Taipei and Kaohsiung at 7 a-m and 5 p-m local time, heading to Shanghai and Guangzhou.

On the mainland, the first flights to Taiwan will start Wednesday. Aviation authorities say during the holidays, a total of 12 airlines are handling close to 100 round trip flights, carrying people to holiday family reunions across the Taiwan Straits.

The flights fall under two periods -- from February 13th to 16th, and from February 23rd to 26th.
