Source: CCTV.com | 12-31-2006 09:41

The Interfax news agency is reporting that Belarus and Russian gas giant Gazprom have reached an agreement to sell gas to Belarus.

The price will be at 100 U.S. dollars per 1,000 cubic meters. And the deal will begin from January 1st, 2007. The report quotes the first deputy prime minister of Belarus.

But Gazprom has not confirmed the statement. And a Gazprom spokesman says it is too early to comment on the results of talks. Belarus is currently buying gas from Russia at nearly 47 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters. But the current contract will expires on Sunday.
