On the third day of the resumed six-party talks in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing met with all of the chief envoys. He urged them to make every effort to realize the goal of a denuclearized Korean Peninsula.

The hands of the top negotiators in the resumed six-party talks are joined together once again.

Though this regular gesture was missed at the start of this round of talks, hosts China would like to create more scenes like this, so that the envoys can improve mutual understanding, and achieve the common goal.

To forge a positive atmosphere at the tough talks, senior Chinese diplomats have set meeting the delegates as a priority during the talks in Beijing. And as the talks progress, more diplomatic skills will be required to smooth the path to the overall goal.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Qin Gang said, "As long as the six-party talks continue, we are on the road to denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula. We hope all parties can be practical and flexible, and increase their trust through contact."

During this latest round of the six party talks, which have been stalled for more than a year, China has been busily shuttling among the delegations, holding bilateral consultations and encouraging participants to be active and positive about the negotiations.

With no time constraints placed on this round, China is hoping that real progress will be made to make this joining of hands much more than just a symbolic gesture.
