Public support for Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, has fallen rapidly since he took office in September.

Polls released on Tuesday, showed voters' disappointment over Abe's waning leadership and reformist stance.

The Asahi poll showed support for Abe falling to 47% from 53%, with disapproval rising from 21% to 32%. The polls attributed the drop largely to public dissatisfaction with Abe's reinstatement of 11 lawmakers ousted from the party for refusing to back former Prime Minister, Junichiro Koizumi's postal privatization plan.

Many voters also think Abe "has retreated" from his reformist promises. Abe enjoyed support ratings of about 70% when he took office late September.
