The genocide trial of Saddam Hussein continues in Baghdad, with more Kurdish witnesses expected to testify against the former Iraqi leader and six co-defendants.

The trial resumed on Monday, after a 19-day break. The prosecution claims about 180-thousand people, mostly civilians, were killed in a crackdown between 1987-1988. Two Kurdish witnesses have testified in the former leader's genocide trial. One said he watched his mother and sister shot to death.

Saddam and six co-defendants have pleaded innocent to charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity for their role in Operation Anfal against the Kurds.
