Hu praised Sino-Pakistani friendship and cooperation in Lahore

Hu Jintao, has addressed more than 7,000 people in Lahore, an important industrial base in Pakistan. He praised Sino-Pakistani friendship and cooperation.

Hu Jintao said the second visit to Lahore brought back pleasant memories of his first visit to the city 22 years ago. He said the Sino-Pakistani friendship promotes the interests of both countries, and is conducive to regional and world peace, stability and prosperity.

He also said the bilateral friendship boasts a firm political basis, and it has helped promote multi-dimensional cooperation beneficial to both countries.

Hu said: "The world is passing through complicated and profound changes. No matter what changes happen in the international arena, there will be no change in the all-weather friendship between China and Pakistan. Let's join hands to strengthen our friendship and strive to enhance the future of the two nations."

Hu Jintao reassured local people that the Chinese government encourages Chinese investment in Pakistan. Later he made a visit to and laid wreath at the mausoleum of renowned Pakistani national poet, Allama Iqbal.
