Lebanon's parliament majority leader Saad Hariri, son of the assassinated former prime minister Rafiq Hariri, has accused Syria of killing Pierre Gemayel.

Saad Hariri made the accusation shortly after the assassination took place on Tuesday afternoon. He said the Syrian regime was "trying to kill every free person" in Lebanon. Meanwhile, allies and opponents of Syria, both Muslim and Christian from across 14 factions met behind closed doors on Tuesday in Beirut to discuss the incident.

Syrian Response : Syria denies involvement

Syria has responded by strongly denouncing the assassination of Gemayel. Syria's Ambassador to the United Nations said his country was not involved in the crime. Full Story >>
