China respects religious freedom

The US State Department has put eight countries, including China, on a list of "countries of special attention" regarding religious freedom. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Jiang Yu responded to the news at a press conference Monday. Jiang stressed that China always protects freedom of religious belief among its citizens. She urged the US side to respect reality and stop interfering in China's internal affairs with religious issues. Jiang added that both countries should enhance communication and understanding between each other instead of going in the opposite direction.
