Egypt has followed four other African countries in acknowledging China's full market economy status. Ministers of Commerce from both nations signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Beijing on Monday.

China's Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai and his Egyptian counterpart Rasheed Mohamed have inked an MOU, recognizing China's full market economy status. Minster Bo said that this agreement, part of the result of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, will be an impetus to Sino-Egyptian bilateral trade relations.

Bo Xilai said, “Egypt's recognition of our full market economy status means that Egypt will give our enterprises fair and equal treatment concerning issues including trade subsidy and anti-dumping. This is a friendly signal, demonstrating Egypt's willingness to enhance economic ties with China. Based on this, bilateral trade relations will gain momentum.”
