US top military officer meets Russian Foreign Minister

In Moscow on Monday, America's visiting top military officer met with Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, to discuss military ties between the countries.

It was General Peter Pace's first visit to Russia since being named chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff last year. General Pace said he wanted to find ways to improve military ties. And Russia's Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, said the two sides should work to maintain strategic stability in the world. Russia has long been critical of the US-led campaign in Iraq, while the US has criticized Russia's support for Iran. Russia has also objected to US plans to deploy missile defenses in NATO nations in Eastern Europe.
