Overseas reporters are also visiting Beichuan during the four days it is reopened.
A German reporter said, "We see so many damaged houses, cars, and so many people lost their lives, and so many survived come to pay respect to their past families, it's so touching, and I was sad."
The bureau chief of NHK, China, said, "The Japanese people are shocked when seeing such a large-scale quake, with so many people affected.'
The bureau chief of Viernam News Agency in Beijing, said, "They are optimistic. I thought they would feel very painful and pessimistic, and I know they lost their family members. But perhaps it's because they get help from others, and their psychological problems are resolved. That's how I feel, and I am happy for them."
The town has been closed since May 20th last year. It reopened to former residents during Qingming, or Tomb Sweeping Day, in April.
A new county seat will be built 23 kilometers from the old town. The new town is expected to have nearly 60,000 residents in 2010 and over one million by 2020.
