Beichuan residents pay tribute to the past

Mourners are bringing flowers, incense and candles to their devastated hometown, to pay tribute to lost friends and family members.

A German reporter said, "We see so many damaged houses, cars, and so many people lost their lives, and so many survived come to pay respect to their past families, it's so touching, and I was sad."

Beichuan was the worst hit county when an 8-magnitude earthquake rocked the region on May 12th last year. Some 21-thousand people, or two-thirds of the town's population, were killed or are missing.

This mother lost her husband and daughter. She has been trying to heal herself by keeping busy working over the past year.

She said once she slows down, she think about them.

This man picked a stone from the debris, wrote his family's name on it, and put it down near where his loved ones are buried. He lost his wife, his child, and eight other relatives.
