In Paris, protesters used their sense of humor to demonstrate against tax havens.
Jean Merckaert, Local Protester, said, "Dismantling tax havens is not so hard and we're calling on the G20 to do it really."
The economic downturn has caused people to reanalyze their government's past political decisions, especially costly ones that have resulted in violence and loss of life.
Protest organizers say they are calling for leaders at the upcoming G-20 summit to adopt a different approach. They're pushing for measures that ensure ordinary people have access to adequate food, housing and healthcare.
On the same day, similar demonstrations were also seen on the streets of Berlin and Rome.
