China, Mexico to work closer together to further ties

The President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Mexican parliament said China has been a role model for Mexico in its swift measures to deal with the financial crisis. He agreed the two parliaments should further exchanges.

Earlier in the day, the Chinese Vice President addressed a luncheon hosted by Chinese and Mexican entrepreneurs. Xi Jinping praised the development of bilateral trade, which has brought tangible benefits to people of both nations. He said the scope and scale of the financial and economic crisis requires China and Mexico to shoulder it together. Xi Jinping elaborated on the way to enhance cooperation by spelling out a five-point proposal. This includes promoting cooperation in key fields, unleashing the full potential of major enterprises and expanding cooperation in world economic affairs.

Before the luncheon, China and Mexico signed agreements on finance, telecommunications, health and energy.
