Meanwhile, British soldiers serving in southern Iraq joined their fellow countrymen on Sunday, commemorating the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces in times of military conflict.
Troops stationed in Basra laid wreaths at a war memorial and attended a prayer service.
This year's Remembrance Sunday came two days before the 90th anniversary of the end of World War One. Nine million soldiers died in that conflict.
