Mainland, Taiwan discuss financial cooperation

The visiting ARATS president also met with the chairman of Taiwan's People First Party, James Soong. Soong said Chen Yunlin's visit is a milestone in the development of cross-strait relations and he hopes Taiwan will seize the opportunity for growth.

James Soong, chairman pf People First Party, said, "The two sides have been determined to solve problems with wisdom, persistence and sincerity. The signing of the 4 key agreements is a major milestone. Direct flights across the Straits can improve our competitiveness."

Chen Yunlin is in Taiwan for a five-day visit at the invitation of the SEF. The ongoing talks are the first ever between leaders of the two organizations to be held on the island.
