Republican presidential nominee John McCain again tried to distance himself on Sunday from the unpopular incumbent President George W. Bush in the face of attacks from Obama that the two Republicans are little different.

McCain's choice of Alaskan governor Sarah Palin as his running mate was initially welcomed as a boost to his campaign.

But the scrutiny since her addition to the ticket has been tough, with some arguing they don't believe Palin is sufficiently experienced to be a heartbeat away from the presidency.

John McCain, Republican presidential Candidate, said, "Stand up, stand up and fight. America is worth fighting for. Nothing is inevitable here. We never quit. We never give up. We never hide from history, we make history. So let's go win this election and get this country moving again."

McCain is clawing back slowly in national polls, but Obama is still in pole position after reaching a high of 12 points ahead last week.
