The torch relay for the Beijing 2008 Paralympics has wrapped up in Shanghai, the third leg of the "modern China" route. |
Monday's relay segment featured 60 torch bearers running 50 meter segments, including 10 people with disabilities. They carried the flame along a route stretching 3.1 kilometers.
The local residents of Shanghai welcomed the flame with enthusiasm. Though the relay took place during normal working hours, thousands turned out to cheer the torch bearers along the route chanting slogans such as "Go Beijing" and "Go Paralympics."
