Iraqi general takes over Baghdad security amid bombs

A parked car bomb exploded near a garage in Bab al-Sheikh killing 10 people and wounding 15 others.

In central Baghdad, a mortar attack slammed into a building in the same district, killing one and wounding six others.

Twin car bombs also exploded near a petrol station in the neighborhood of Sadiyah in the south of Baghdad, killing 15 people and wounding more than 60.

Later after nightfall, seven people perished when four mortar shells rained down on a Shi'ite neighborhood also in the south of Baghdad.
