Members from the media gathered Friday to comment on the human right reports issued by China and the United States. Members praised the Chinese report and condemned the US for having double standards.

The members strongly condemned the US for its distortion of China's human rights situation.

They recalled the Chinese governments' efforts in improving human rights over the last few decades. More than 20 documents on human rights during that period have made the country's situation very clear.

Zhao Qizheng, CPPCC Member said: "From all sources we can see that Chinese people are satisfied with the current situation of our human rights. That's the result of the joint efforts of the government and the people. A would-be judge of human rights in the world, the US always avoids commenting their own human right conditions. Therefore it's necessary to issue a report on their human rights."

Members said the achievements China has made in human rights is obvious.

They spoke highly of the abolishment of the agriculture tax which provides a huge benefit for farmers, and the governments' measures to protect intellectual property rights.

Zhao Qizheng said: "China is making every effort to improve its human rights, but the US is still treating China with a conflicting attitude as they did during the cold war. The US government's hypocrisy and double standards on human rights are ridiculous."

Sidney Shapiro, CPPCC Member said: "The two political parties in the US is almost the same in defending the benefit of the capitalists, instead of considering the human rights of common people. Their abuse of human rights can be seen all over the world."

The members agree there is no country without any human rights problems, but the right way to solve the issue is to sit down and talk, instead of accusing other countries without any clear evidence.
