Badminton
Badminton is a court game played with rackets and a shuttlecock. It can be played by single players or double teams. Volleying is the basic skill of the game. Players try to keep the shuttle in the air and to force their opponents into making mistakes so that they are unable to return the shuttle.
It is played on an indoor court with a wooden floor. The court is 13.4(thirteen point four)metres or forty-four feet long and 6.1(six point one)metres or twenty feet wide. The court is divided into two parts, separated by a net, hung between two posts. The net is 1.55metres high at the posts and should be 1.524metres or five feet high at the center. Each side of the court is divided by a center line into left and right service courts. There is a short service line 1.98metres from the net. Badminton is named after the town of Badminton in England. The game was devised there in about 1870(eighteen seventy) and originates from the old children’s game of battledore and shuttlecock. Originally, badminton was played by army officers who spread the game around the world. The International Badminton Federation was founded in 1934. Its headquarters are in England. Dominant nations in world badminton are Malaysia, Indonesia and Denmark as well as China. A badminton player is also called a shuttler.
Badminton requires speed, balance, stamina, agility, flexibility, coordination and good footwork.

羽毛球是使用球拍和羽毛球的球类运动（在球场上进行和一项运动）。它可以进行单打和双打。凌空对打是这项运动的基本技术。双方运动员力求使球不落地（保持在空中）并竭力使对手失误，造成球不能击回。
