SEOUL, April 28 (Xinhua) -- The South Korean government said Tuesday that the patient suspected of swine flu infection showed a positive result on the test for the type-A influenza.

The state-run Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) said that it classified the 51-year-old woman suspected of human infection of swine flu as an 'assumed patient,' which refers to a person showing a positive result on the type-A influenza test and is a one-notch higher level than a 'suspected patient.'

The South Korean government has sent the patient to an isolation ward and plans to report the case to the U.S. health authorities to get a confirmation, which will take about a week, the KDCD said.

Earlier in the day, South Korea's health authorities reported a suspected case of a swine flu patient for the first time in the country.
