China's first provincial-level autonomous region -- the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region -- was set up sixty years ago. It's considered a model for other ethnic groups in China in pursuing regional ethnic autonomy. The region has taken advantage of the regional ethnic autonomy system to develop over the last six decades.

At the Inner Mongolia Memorial Museum for Nationalities Liberation in Ulanhot, the birthplace of China's first ethnic minority autonomous regime, staff are busy putting the final touches on exhibitions.

After a year of preparations, the memorial museum is scheduled to open to the public in early August to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region.
