State 4A-level Scenic Spot. Approved by the State Council, the Sino-Russian Manzhouli-Baykalsk Mutual Trade Zone was established on April 12, 1992. This is the only mutual trade zone between the two countries to beapproved by the State Council.

The mutual trade zone is located on the westtip of Manzhouli, one kilometer northeast of the state frontier; it connects the urban area in the east and the Sino-Russian border in the northwest. The planned construction area of the zone is 11.8 square kilometers, and it is connected with Russia byrail and a highway. The mutual trade zone has five areas for different functions -- a free trade closed area, trade and financialarea, bonded and storage area, industrial tax-free processing area and a service and entertainment area. The free trade closedarea opened on January 18, 1996 and Russian visitors shop here every day.

Traffic: take the train or bus from Hailar to Manzhouli and then transfer to a bus to the scenic spot.
