Special Report:   HK 10 Years

International society highly praised the great development in Hong Kong during the ten years after its return to the motherland on Sunday.

UK Foreign Minister David Miliband said in a statement on Sunday that remarkable achievements have been made in Hong Kong in the past decade, and that he believes Hong Kong will embrace a brighter future.

The London based the weekly news publication, The Economist, has published an article on Saturday, saying Hong Kong's economy has just had its best decade in the last twenty years.

The leading English-language newspaper in India, The Hindu, also reported on Sunday that an increasing number of Hong Kong citizens have become more concerned about politics, and that Hong Kong has also made huge economic development.

An editorial on the Japanese newspaper the Yomiuri Shimnbun has also said that many Hong Kong residents who immigrated to foreign countries ten years ago have returned to Hong Kong, because they had confidence in Hong Kong's future.

Formal celebrations marking the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China and the swearing-in ceremony of the third-term government of Hong Kong were held on Sunday morning.
