Temporary reinforcement

On 22 June 2005, the Security Council, by its resolution 1608, decided that for a temporary period MINUSTAH would consist of a miliatry component of up to 7,500 troops of all ranks and of up to 1,897 police, and requested the Secretary-General to devise a progressive drawdown strategy of the MINUSTAH force levels for the post-election period, in accordance with the situation on the ground

Current authorized strength

By its resolution 1702 of 15 August 2006, the Security Council decided that MINUSTAH will consist of a military component of up to 7,200 troops of all ranks and of a police component of up to 1,951 officers; the Council also authorized MINUSTAH to deploy 16 correction officers seconded from Member States

Current strength (30 April 2007)

8,829 total uniformed personnel, including 7,036 troops and 1,793 police, supported by 452 international civilian personnel, 734 local civilian staff and 182 United Nations Volunteers
