1. Beijing in spring is full of vigor. At 8 o’clock in the morning, breathing fresh air, the contestants of the 4th Star of Outlook English Talent Competition Beijing final confidently go to the arena. Among them are not only newcomers but also some familiar faces. Lv Yahui, a girl who entered last year’s national final, is one of them.
Huiya：I have entered this competition last year, but this year I still want to have a try. I am nervous because all the contestants are very excellent.
2. This year’s Beijing Competition attracted more than 1000 people to sign up. After the first and second rounds organized by the Competition committee of Beijing, 16 contestants from the adult group and 10 each
from the teenagers’ and children’s groups got invitations to the Beijing final. It’s no exaggeration to say that each of them is an excellent English learner. Today’s competition will decide who of them will compete in the national final representing Beijing. No matter their ages, the contestants are all using the last bits and pieces of time to prepare before the contest.
Zou Siyi：I wish I could get into the finals, but it’s not certain. And I wish everybody good luck.
Teacher：I really appreciate CCTV, without your motivation, everything we have dreamed is impossible. And I hope more Chinese students will benefit from the competition.
Li Jing：My aim is to draw some experience, so a little bit nervous, but not that serious.
Zhang Junting：I feel honored to take part in this competition.
3. Walking past the amiable judges, the contestants take their turn to go onto the stage to perform. The contestants from the Teenagers and Children’s Groups show solid abilities in language application, which is a really surprising and also exciting phenomenon. The judges and the audience are amused time after time by their original extemporaneous performances, their contagious enthusiasm, and their imaginative and witty answers. Qu Zhi and Lv Yahui both performed very well in the first part of the contest and their marks were very close. It happens that they become partners by casting lots in the situational dialogue section. Let’s see how they manage demonstrating their individuality, and at the same time their ability to cooperate together.
Yan Dong：Actually that’s to put us under intense pressure.
4. In the Teenagers Debate section our contestants are so full of passion, and this debate has such fierce crossfire, that we can almost smell some explosives.
5. Compared with the Teenagers and Children’s groups, the Adult Group displays less passion but more calm and logic.
6. It is really a hard job for the judges to pick out only a few of the contestants, since all performed so well. But after all, the contest needs a result. At last, Sun Jian and Zheng chenguang from the Adults Group, Jin Yunan from the Teenagers?Group and Qu Zhi from the Children's Group outshone the other competitors. They would soon take part in the National Final of the Fourth Star-of-Outlook English Talent Competition representing Beijing.
Qv Zhi：I got the number one of the children’s group, I am really happy and excited about it. I hope I can get a better score in the national finals.
Yunan：I know there is someone out there that’s better than me so next time if there is a competition please participate. I really want to meet you and I hope I can beat you too.
Zheng Chengnan：I guess many Chinese students may have a lot of trouble with complicated words. For that I suggest you memorize the whole sentence because sentences include words, grammar and structure.
Sun Jian：When you talk with your friends about some issue, you can learn to sum up the issue into two or three points. Through this kind of regular exercise, you can make your thinking more logical.
7.The contestants who do not win also show their graciousness before the audience.
Yahui：I am happy because I learnt a lot from the other contestants and we made friends. We can call each other and study from each other.
8. We can still recall clearly the eloquence of the contestants from Beijing. And now the horn of the National Final is heard blowing. They have our wholehearted blessing and we wish our brave warriors success and good luck!

“希望之星”英语风采大赛北京赛区花絮

1.春天的北京一派欣欣向荣的景象，早晨8点，呼吸着清新的空气，参加第四届“希望之星”英语风采大赛北京赛区决赛的选手们满怀信心地走进了赛场。选手中不但有第一次参赛者，也有我们熟悉的面孔。进入了去年全国总决赛的吕雅卉就是其中之一。
去年我参加过比赛，今年我还想试一试。我很紧张，因为其他选手也非常出色。
2.在北京赛区组委会的精心组织下，经过初赛、复赛，大学组16名，中、小学组各10名选手脱颖而出，可以说他们个个都是英语学习的佼佼者。而今天的决赛将决定他们中谁能够代表北京市参加“希望之星”英语风采大赛全国总决赛。大小选手们都在利用比赛开始前的时间紧张准备着。
我希望能进入决赛，但谁也说不准。祝大家好运。
感谢CCTV提供机会, 让大家实现梦想。希望更多中国学生能从比赛中受益。
我的目的是取得经验, 有点紧张，不过还不太严重。
很荣幸能参加这个比赛。
3.在五位评委和蔼的目光中，选手们依次上场开始比赛。令许多人感到吃惊的是，中小学组的一些选手表现出了相当好的语言功底。他们活泼的即兴表演，富于感染力的动作和表情，以及充满想象力的对答让评委和观众们不时会心微笑。曲直和吕亚卉在前边的比赛中发挥都很出色，分数相差无几。而在情景对话这一环节，两人抽签成了搭档，我们看看她们是怎么既互相配合，同时又充分展现各自实力的。
这些孩子让我们都感到了压力。
4.在中学组的辩论环节，孩子们激情四溢，白热化的论战中火药味十足。
5.与中小学选手相比，大学组选手的表达少了几分激情，多了几分理性与沉稳。
6.对评委们来说，这是一个难以取舍的时刻，因为选手们的水平实在是太接近了。不过，比赛总需要一个结果。最终，大学组的孙健，郑晨光，中学组的靳宇男，小学组的曲直成为了幸存者，他们将代表北京市参加第四届“希望之星”英语风采大赛的全国总决赛。
我获得了小学组冠军，非常高兴。希望在全国决赛中取得好成绩。
我知道还有比我更出色的学生, 下次有比赛的话请参加, 我真的希望见到你, 而且也希望能击败你.
我猜很多中国学生总是记不住难词, 我的建议是背诵整个句子, 因为句子包含了单词, 结构和语法.
当你和朋友讨论某个问题时, 你可以试着把问题归纳为两三点, 通过这样的训练, 你可以让自己的思维更有逻辑性.
7.没有获得冠军的选手也表现出了良好的风度。
我很高兴, 因为我从其他选手身上学到了很多. 我们成了朋友, 可以通电话, 可以互相学习.
8.北京选手的话音还萦绕在我们耳边，全国总决赛的号角又已吹响。在这里我们送去衷心的祝福，祝他们发挥出色，一展风采。
