India's Olympic Association says 70 people, mostly sportsmen, will run with the Olympic flame later in the day.

Officials also expressed confidence about a successful torch relay.

He said the world is looking forward to seeing a grand torch relay in India and Indians are confident they will put on a great show.

Torchbearers for the Indian leg of the Beijing Olympic torch relay promise to run for the spirit of the games.

They say the Olympic movement represents peace and should not be mixed with politics.

Thursday's torch relay in New Delhi will start at the Rashtrapati Bhavan and finish at India Gate.
