Tourism is one of Tibet's pillar industries, accounting for a tenth of the region's GDP. Last year saw tourism hit a two-decade high, pulling in more than 4 million visitors, with income from that sector hitting close to 5 billion yuan.

Most of the shops damaged in recent riots have reopened for business. And the local government is working on a series of measures to attract visitors back to the region.
