Taikonaut: great view but no Great Wall

China's first taikonaut Yang Liwei said in an interview with China Central Television on Thursday evening that he could not see the Great Wall from space.

He said the Earth looked very beautiful from space. There was a popular saying in China that the Great Wall was the only manmade structure that could be seen with the naked eye from space.

During the interview, Yang Liwei verified that the saying was not correct.

Earlier, some American astronauts who had entered space had also denied the allegation.
