1. Hello, boys and girls. Welcome back to New Standard English. Glad to see you again.今天Sam和Amy的学校里正在举行歌唱比赛。Smart老师、Amy、Sam、还有小Tom都来观看比赛了。同学们，让我们也去比赛现场看一看吧！
2. 同学们，在刚才的动画片中，大家看到了几位选手的表演？Three? Or four? 对了，千万别把小Tom给忘了，我们一共看到了4位小朋友的演出。那么，比赛的成绩如何呢？让我们逐一分析一下吧。Be quiet, please. Here comes the first girl!
3. How about the first girl? Do you like her voice? Voice,声音，voice, voice, Smart老师认为这个小姑娘唱得不错，所以评价说：This girl is good. I like her voice. 不过，不要急着下结论，我们还是再听一听下面的演唱吧。
4. 嗯，第二个小姑娘的演唱也很精彩哦。所以Amy 悄悄地对Sam说：I think this girl is better than the first girl。Think, think, 想，认为 better, better. 更好的，较好的。I think this girl is better than the first girl. I think this girl is better than the first girl. Amy 认为第二个女孩儿唱得比第一个女孩更好，Do you agree? agree, agree. 同意。Do you agree? Do you agree? Sam却有着和Amy完全不同的观点，I think she’s worse. worse, worse. 更坏的。I think she’s worse. I think she’s worse. Boys and girls, do you agree? 没关系，比赛还没有结束呢。我们接着往下看吧。
5. 接下来这位男孩儿的演唱博得大家的一致好评。Sam 羡慕地说: This boy is better than the girls. Smart 老师也点头表示赞同：Yes, I agree. He’s very good. 那么冠军是不是就是他了呢？别急着，好戏还在后头呢！
6. 台下的小Tom看到大家的表演，也来了兴致，忍不住大声唱了起来。 Do you like his voice? I think he’s not very good. Do you agree?看来妈妈好像也不太欣赏Tom的表演哦，所以她忙制止：Oh no! Tom, be quiet, please! Tom,请安静！quiet, quite, 安静的，Be quiet, please. Sam 慌忙堵住耳朵说: Tom is worse than girls. 小Tom，你瞧，妈妈和哥哥都不欣赏你的歌声，那就赶快停下来吧！不过别忙，评委老师好像被Tom的歌声吸引了，他面带微笑好奇的问：Who is that little boy? Little, 小的，年幼的, little ,little. Sam 和Amy忙告诉评委老师：It’s Tom. He’s our brother. Our, our, 我们的，He’s our brother. He’s our brother. 谁知评委老师当场宣布：Tom is the winner! Tom是冠军！ winner, winner. 冠军。Tom is the winner! Wow, what a surprise! 看到Tom抱着奖杯高高兴兴地回家，同学们是不是也为他感到高兴呢？Now, let’s watch the cartoon again.再来回顾一下小Tom夺冠的全过程吧！
Unit 2 Lili is better than Xiaoyong
1. 欣赏了歌唱比赛，下面XXX要带大家去音乐厅，欣赏乐器演奏。Well, let’s go!
2. 同学们，你们喜欢刚才几位小朋友的演奏吗？那么，在刚才的动画片中，大家都看到了几种不同的乐器呢？对了，有：erhu, 二胡，erhu, erhu; zither,古筝，zither, zither; 还有：guitar,吉他，guitar, guitar; drum,鼓，drum, drum. Good. 首先让我们来欣赏二胡和古筝演奏吧！

[Zoe] In the past episode, Manni had a lot of troubles,
driven out by Rangers' staff, getting lost in the street,
and nearly getting caught by the police.
[崔]是的，经过一系列的麻烦以后，Manni的命运是会有好转呢？
他和Peter在流浪者队的试训情况如何？能不能成为球队的主力队员呢？
好，下面我们开始学习第5讲。大家马上会看到流浪者队的训练场面．
球队教练组对Manni与Peter两位新来球员的态度变化，
队员如何通过刻苦训练来提高水平。
本讲重点介绍足球运动员的日常训练生活，重点学习的是一般过去式的用法。
此外还将讲解 GET ON，DOOM，TO BE HARD ON, SUPPOSE等词汇短语
以及一些体育术语等。

[崔]上面这一段内容比较好懂，大家看明白了吗？
流浪者队在两场比赛失败以后夺冠目标遭受重创，
ALEX认识到球队需要天才球员来扭转目前的不利局面。
MANNI和PETER的机会来了。
同时，Emma的时装设计与她在酒店的工作却产生了矛盾，她该怎么办呢？
[Zoe]下面介绍上文中出现的单词和短语：doom; get on
doom 使....失败，注定
体育评论员说：With two defeats in two games,
London Rangers' chances for the championship seem doomed.
[崔] 这里的doom是使....失败的意思，也可以表示“注定．命定“，
它也可以直接用作名词，表示“命运"或“毁灭"等。比如：
This project is doomed to failure.
这个项目注定要失败。
His doom was to be poverty.
他命中注定受穷。
[Zoe] Another useful phrase is "get on".
Get on 继续．进展．开始做
How are Peter and Manni getting on?
Manni和 Peter现在情况如何？
这里get on 是指“继续．进展"，不是我们常用的“上车．上马"的意思,
请大家注意。我们还可以说：
I must get on, so I cannot attend the party this evening.
我得接着干，所以我不能参加晚会了。
Get on with your homework.
继续做你的课外作业。
与中文一样，英语中一些相同的词汇也有不同的意思，
我们在看到某个词汇或短语时不能简单地认为是一种意思，
而要联系具体的语言背景。
[崔] 请大家继续看录像，看看Manni与Peter与主力队员一同训练的情况。
[Zoe] Manni and Peter join the frist team's training at last.
But Paul seems not so happy about that.
Alex is expecting to win the next game,
but he is not so confident of Manni and Peter though Sophie is.
Peter and Manni feel the training is quite hard,
Joe is trying to help them.
[崔]Paul对Peter和 Manni参加主力队员的训练并不十分欢迎。
而Alex为了赢得下一场比赛的胜利而加紧球队的训练，
尽管他对Peter和 Manni作为主力队员的能力表示怀疑，
但是Sophie对Manni却充满了信心。
Emma因为请假去推销自己设计的衬衫而与 Charlie 发生争执，
而Paul利用自己的特殊身份迫使Charile答应了Emma请假要求。
好了，看了上面的片子后我们来学习一些足球运动中常用的术语。
[崔] 是的，很多球迷每到周末都爱看欧洲的足球比赛，比如意甲．英超．德甲等。
我们在比赛现场一定会听到很多常用的术语，让我们看一看本文中出现的例子：
substitutes bench warm up strength and stamina
substitutes bench是“替补席"，是指赛场边上的一排长椅，
未出场的队员坐在那里等待机会替补出场。
starters 是指"首发出场"的队员。warm up是指赛前的热身运动
strength and stamina 是指“力量和耐力".
Please remember these terms, they're very useful.
For example, before we attend a game, we'd first say:
"Come on, let's have a warm-up first."
score a goal 进球
pass the ball 传球
fitness program 体能训练课程
snooker 斯诺克
pitch 场地
I hope every one will remember these terms,
and we'll find more and more terms in the following program.
[Zoe] After joining the first team, Peter and Manni
are facing hard training now.
Though Manni feels very tired,
but he thinks it worth if he gets to play in the first team.
And Joe tries to help Manni during the training.
However, Peter cannot stand it,
and nearly refuses Sophie's fitness program.
[崔]面对艰苦的训练，Manni咬牙坚持着，Peter感到难以忍受，
队友Joe 主动帮助他们克服训练中的困难，
并说出他能承受刻苦训练的秘密就是他怀有一个信念，
将来能代表国家队参加世界杯比赛。
Emma 对Manni也十分关心，并给他极大的鼓励。
Sophie的训练计划非常严格，这让Peter对自己的能力产生了怀疑，
也让他想起过去也在流浪者队踢球的父亲。
他向Manni讲述了他父亲以前的故事。
Mannie 向Emma讲述他以前在家乡时是球星，但现在什么也不是。
[Zoe] "At home, I was a star. I was someone..."
我在家乡时是球星，是个名人。
It's my dad.
He played for London Rangers.
He was one of their best players, until he got hurt.
He broke his leg and he couldn't play after that.
从上文可以看出，在用过去时态时，我们一般在谓语动词后加“ed"。
但是在英语动词中，有很多不规则的过去形式，没有明显的规律，
对此我们要牢记，多学多用就会自然地记住。
下面我们简单举一些这方面的例子：前面是动词原形，后面时过去时。
make made
begin began
have had
think thought
stick stuck
shine shone
[崔]好的，以上我们学了一些重要的词汇．语法．
体育运动特别是足球运动的术语，了解了足球运动员的日常训练方法，
大家在锻炼身体时也可以边锻炼边试着用英语表述。
现在可以放松一下，想一想文中还有哪些常用的表达方式：
[Zoe]Right, there're still many idioms or popular saying in the text.
Some are quite difficult to translate into Chinese,
such as "hot", “hard"。当然，也有一些直接翻译成中文效果也相当好，请看：

[Zoe] Hello everyone, this is Zoe from CCTV channel 10.
Welcome to Goal Unit 3, part 2. In the last part,
Manni and Peter were allowed to practise in the first team.
The training was tough and boring, hardly to bear.
Can they stand that? Who'll survive or get qualified
in London Rangers? It's quite interesting, isn't ?
[崔] 在上一集中，球队教练Alex决定将Manni和 Peter
纳入主力阵容一起训练，并通过训练来决定是否将这两位球员留下。
助理教练Sophie为球队制订了高强度的训练计划。
[Zoe] 而Emma仍在为自己热爱的时装设计而努力着。
Manni和 Peter能顺利通过训练吗？他们的命运如何？
好，接下来我们一起看录像。
[Zoe] In this episode, Manni's beautiful girlfriend Lucia visited him.
She is surprised to know Manni hasn't played in the first team and feels
it's unfair for Manni. Paul is enchanted with Lucia and tries to attract
her attention. Sophie is worrying about whether Manni and Peter have got
ready for the following training game.
[崔]本集讲述的是Manni的女友Lucia来到伦敦探望Manni，发现Manni还未成
为流浪者队的主力球员，她感到很不公平。Lucia的美貌令Paul心动。Paul从
一开始就想引起她的注意。
[Zoe] ok, what do you think of the drama? Who's visiting Manni? Where is
she from? What does she do? Did she have a reservation at the hotel? Manni
and Peter have got ready for the training game? If you can answer these
questions, you've got the main ideas of this episode, it's quite good of
you.
[崔]怎么样？如果你能回答上面的几个问题，说明你已经看懂了本节的内容，特
别是Lucia在片中提到，她在米兰拍摄时装照片将有助于我们理解Lucia的职业。
[Zoe] Right, she is sure a model from Italia. As we saw, when Lucia
reached the hotel, Emma asked her if she had a reservation at the hotel.
Did she do that? Can she stay at the hotel?
[崔] 我们在片中看到，Lucia 到酒店后，Emma一见面就问她是否预订过房间。
现在我们一起了解一下如何预订房间。
---Hello madam. Do you have a reservation ?
---I'm a guest here...
---Yes, that's what I meant. Do you have a booking for a room?
---Do you have a reservation?
---Do you have a booking for a room?
[崔] Zoe刚才重复的两句话都是问客人是否预订了房间。 [Zoe] 一般客人到
酒店时，前台的服务人员都会客人是否预订过房间，就象片中Lucia与 Emma的
对话。我们还可以看一些例句：
----I had a booking for a room here at your hotel last week, right?
----No, sorry, the hotel has no reservation under your name.
-―我上周在这家酒店预订了房间，不是吗？
――对不起，酒店里没有以您名字预订的房间。
与房间预订have a reservation／have a booking for a room
有关系的两个常用短语是check in 和check out。
check in 登记入住
check out 结账离开
[崔] 当我们外出旅行时，上面的几个词非常重要，而且经常用到。从预订房间
到登记入住，最后结帐离开。希望大家都能熟练掌握，并能实际运用。
[Zoe] Right, we'd learn and grasp the usage of these words or phrases.
Now let's see some other sentences:
--John reserved a room at the hotel yesterday.
--He checked in this morning, and will check out three days later.
[崔] 我们在上一集的语法中讲述了一般过去时的用法，本片中我们的语法重点
是现在完成时，并对一般过去时和现在完成时在用法上的区别做一简单分析。
[Zoe]
--Lucia, these are all my friends. This is Emma.
--Yes, we've met.
[崔]现在完成时表示到现在为止以前发生的动作或情况。这个时态的基本特点是
它和现在有密切的联系，或是讲迄今为止这一段时间的情况，或是讲一个影响现
状的动作。根据这个特点我们可以判断什么时候用一般过去时，什么时候用现在
完成时；
[Zoe]
--I wasn't sure you wanted to see me.
--I've really missed you Lucia.
--I was supposed to be working this afternoon,
but I just had to get away early....
[崔] 许多同学都反映，在用现在完成时时，经常感觉和一般过去时难以区别。
对此我们可以这样理解：在单纯谈一个过去的动作，不涉及它对现在的影响时，
通常用一般过去时；如果谈已经发生的事，不用考虑它时什么时候发生的，而主
要考虑对现在的影响，则多用现在完成时。请看例句：
[Zoe]: [崔]:
――What did you have for lunch? --你午饭吃的什么？
――Have you had lunch? --你吃午饭了吗？
――They have already won a game. ---他们已赢过一场比赛。
stay up late 熬夜，睡得很晚
I can't stay up late and I can't drink too much.
[崔] 这里stay up late是指睡得晚的意思
Tell him to stay up until I come back. 告诉他等我回来再睡。
He looks sleepy, maybe he stayed up late again yesterday.
他看起来很疲倦，可能他昨天又开夜车了。
mess up 弄乱，弄糟
I just don't want to mess things up.
我是不想把事情弄糟了。
Her late arrival messed up our plan.
她的迟到打乱了我们的计划。
push, 这里的意思是“逼迫，要求"等，而不是指通常意义的“推".
push 一再要求 迫使 接近
They're pushing for higher salary.他们一再要求增加工资。
The weather is pushing zero.气温快接近零度了。
Oh no, Peter is leaving London Rangers. Paul is trying to attract Lucia,
though his girlfriend is Emma.
[崔] Paul是有点让人难以理解。
[Zoe] Any way, it's really attractive football game. But we're sorry to
see that though Manni tried his best to help Peter during the practice
match, Alex still asked Peter to leave the Rangers. Manni felt sad about
that. The football game is hot, and so is the competition of positions
in the first team.
[崔] 是啊，尽管这只是一场训练比赛，但Alex通过这场训练比赛发现了新来球
员的能力，由于Peter水平欠佳，Alex只好让他离开了球队。而Manni的命运
如何呢？能不能在流浪者队里呆下去并参加正式赛呢？我们会在以后的节目中
会知道结果的。
