Anthrax hoax prompted emergency evacuation of all the staff of Australian High Commission and British Council in Dhaka on Tuesday after getting envelops stuffed with powder like the dreaded syndromes, the New Nation reported Wednesday.
An official of Australian High Commission reportedly got an envelope that was sent to the high commissioner. When it was opened Tuesday morning the concerned saw power-like substance inside it that spread a scare.
Soon after the incident, all the officials were asked to leave the office and all works suspended.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and took the envelope. Police sources said it was sent to specialists for test.
Meanwhile, on Sunday British High Commission was vacated for the same type of hoax, apparently linked to alleged germ warfare against the United States, purportedly in reprisals for U.S. war on Afghanistan.
Following the incidents anthrax scare gripped people of the foreign missions.
