China's WTO Accession Centre of Media Attention

In just a few hours, the WTO ministerial meeting will deliberate on China's entry to the world trade body. China has been waiting for this day for 15 years. But as Liu Changying discovered, many member economies have also been waiting and are eager to welcome China into the group.

At the opening ceremony of the WTO meeting, the Chinese delegation was the most sorted after by media from both China and elsewhere. And the whereabouts of the Chinese delegates was also most sorted after information. For the member economies, the entry is widely welcomed.

"Definitely, its welcomed by everybody. It's a big event in the context of WTO."said Dennis Williams Gebbie, the Australian Delegate.

The long process of China's entry was unprecedented in the WTO history.

Both the importance of the Chinese economy and the difficult process explained to the attention. China's entry to the WTO has also been viewed as adding stability to the world trading system.

Many delegates say china's accession deserves a lot of attention. At the same time, they are also trying to figure out the potential impact of this new heavy weight in the world trade body on the own ecnomies.
