《环球了望》是CCTV-9主要一档国际新闻节目，每天播出两次，每次30分钟。本栏目不单是报道重大国际新闻，更着眼于为观众描绘一个全面的世界图画。它不仅报道发生在西方发达国家的新闻，更不吝时间报道发展中国家的新闻；它不仅报道发展中国家的灾难，事故，也报道这些国家的社会发展和进步；不仅报道新闻本身，同时反映中国和其他发展中国家的立场和观点。
