Promise
Hope the matchmaking party will be held once again
Currently, Wu lives in a rented house in Sunhe Township. On December 20, he saw a banner reading "Matchmaking Party for Migrant Workers" on the gate of Wangjing Park, where he passes every day when he goes to work. He immediately signed up after learning that the entry fee is only 20 yuan.
Wangjing Park was decorated with a festive atmosphere on the day of the party and a red banner hung on the iron gate of the park and posters, reading, "I am a migrant worker and I have come here for a date," "I will carry the date to an end," and "I want to take the right person home for the Spring Festival holidays," were pasted on the trees. Some tree branches also were decorated with flowers tied by pink ribbons.
Over 10 migrant workers eagerly waited for the girls to come. However, they were disappointed that only two girls came, and soon they left. A migrant worker complained, "Because too many reporters came here, they scared them away. I do not even see them!"
Looking at the bleak and withered grass and bald trunks, Wu put his hands to his mouth and blew on them, then said, "There may be more girls when the sun shines."
Although without seeing any girl, Wu did feel neither bad nor disappointed and said, "I still will come if there is another party like this." But he said that he has not given up on his goal in finding a girl who has a keen sense and is not impulsive when facing life to be his wife. Other fellow workers also said they wish the matchmaking party for migrant workers would be a long term event.
Bidding farewell to the fruitless matchmaking party, Wu hurriedly caught a bus to work overtime selling air-conditioners, hoping to take more money home. "It would be better if I can take a girl home for the Spring Festival holidays indeed!"
