| Arrangement of the exhibits for the "scientific park" is nearly finished, and workers are putting on the final touches |
The new CSTM looks like a “LuBan lock,” resembling many interlocking toy bricks. The arch-screen theater in the museum is the largest in the world with a diameter of 30 meters. It is located in the southwest of the building, next to the Olympic water system. From the outside it looks like a huge ball, made of stainless steel and as bright as a mirror, perfectly complementing the Olympic water system in striking appearance.
The new CSTM has five main exhibits, including “scientific park,” “China’s achievements,” “exploration and discovery,” “science and life” and “challenges and the future.” Of these, the “scientific park” exhibit has been finished, crawling with cartoon-style houses, trees and rivers. Inside the park, a small theater stands out, looking like a big TV with “buttons” in the pillars. There is a stage on the screen for kids to perform on, as though they are on television.
The whole exhibition hall educates through action, for example, the hall has specially set up a fire escape simulation to imitate a real disaster and teach children how to escape.
