Travel tips given by Beijing Traffic Management Bureau on May 24 showed that during the Dragon Boat Festival, the traffic flow heading towards Yanqing District for the first Beijing Dragon Boat Cultural Festival will converge on the Badaling Expressway with the traffic flow heading towards the Badaling Great Wall and the Wildlife Park, and thus heavy traffic jams are expected.

Moreover, the holiday activities of Longtan Park during the festival will cause traffic flow to converge at the East and South Second Ring Roads.

Official from Beijing Traffic Management Bureau predicted that during the Dragon Boat Festival, traffic jams are very likely to occur in the Juyongguan-Shuiguan section of the Badaling Expressway. On the day of the Dragon Boat Festival, Guishui Park of Yanqing District will hold the first Beijing Dragon Boat Cultural Festival, and the traffic to Yanqing District is bound to increase because of a series of coordinated activities to be held in Yanqing Cultural Center Square, Yanqing Exhibition Center Square and Yanqing Theater. Badaling Great Wall and the Wildlife Park have always been tourist hot spots during holidays, and thus the traffic flow to Yanqing will converge on the Badaling Expressway with the traffic to Badaling Great Wall and the Wildlife Park.

The official suggested that vehicles traveling to Yanqing or the Great Wall should exit the Badaling Expressway early to avoid traffic jams. The vehicles going to the Great Wall can exit at the Juyongguan exit, Shuiguan exit or the Wildlife Park exit. Vehicles going to Yanqing can exit at the Yingchengzi exit, or take a detour to Jingyin Road from Xiguanhuandao in Changping District in advance evading the Juyongguan-Shuiguan section.

Furthermore, the traffic along the East and South Second Ring Roads will increase rapidly during the Dragon Boat Festival, due to the holiday activities such as the dragon boat race in Longtan Park. The official suggested that in case of traffic jams, vehicles driving eastbound/westbound can detour to Liangguang Road to avoid traffic jams and vehicles driving southbound/northbound can detour to Chongwenmenwai Street and Tiantan East Road.
