Foreign diplomats in China were invited to the Great Hall of the People to attend the opening session of the NPC and listen to the government work report delivered by Premier Wen Jiabao.

An important day for the Chinese people, and a special day for foreign diplomats in China.

A number of ambassadors attending the opening ceremony showed great interest in China's development program for the next five years.

The foreign envoys joined the nearly 3,000 legislators from around the country in the Great Hall of the People to listen to Premier Wen Jiabao's government work report. The government's goals of further developing rural areas and encouraging scientific innovation left a deep impression on some of them.

Many ambassadors described the government work report as down-to-earth. They praised the government for making practical efforts to solve existing problems, including education in rural areas and environmental protection.

China is now becoming an important player in the world economic and trade arena. Strong economic partnerships mean China and many other countries are now much more interdependent than ever before. Many observers say a stable China with steady economic growth will be of benefit to the world.
